The Guild – making public programming possible—and affordable!

The basis of support for Commonwealth Opera has always been its membership core—the Guild—whose annual gifts of money make possible all of the company’s public programs centered on fully staged opera and musicals.

This very special group of financial supporters appreciates the art and excitement of an opera company in their own back yard. Guild members resonate with Commonwealth Opera’s mission and goals, and they fully enjoy the broad array of performances that they underwrite throughout each season.

Our Guild members include individuals in the arts, academia, service organizations, corporations and businesses, and a broad array of professions. Retirees find a welcome place in the Guild as well.

Annual Guild donations allow Commonwealth Opera to cover its production costs without compromising the commitment to keeping ticket prices affordable. Box office sales, as typical in most performing organizations, cover about 50% at best of a production’s costs. The Guild, with its gifts of money from supportive individuals, truly does present each performance to the public. Take a bow, Guild members!

Guild members not only reap the benefit of exhilarating performances, they also connect with a large and fun-loving musical community through special events.

Guild members have the opportunity to reserve priority seating at all performances. They are our special guests at the annual Gala Guild Concert, and they receive the Guild Newsletter and invitations to special events. Our members also have priority seating for other special events including trips to Glimmerglass Opera, Broadway, off-Broadway and more.
